Traffic Police Kashmir Issues Advisory Amid Heavy Snowfall, Check Here
The Traffic Police Office in Rural Kashmir has issued a comprehensive advisory in light of the forecasted weather changes by the Meteorological Department on February 16, 2024.
The advisory aims to ensure the safety of motorists traversing the challenging terrain of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in hilly regions.
According to the advisory, a shift in weather patterns, including rain and snowfall, is anticipated across the Union Territory, emphasizing the need for motorists to adhere to prescribed guidelines and instructions.
Motorists traveling on snowing or slippery hilly roads, notably along routes such as Tangmarg-Gulmarg, Mughal road, Zojila, Sinthon, Gurez-Bandipora, Pahalgam-Chandanwari, Kupwara-Karnah, and Kupwara-Machil, are advised to use vehicles equipped with 4X4 capabilities or anti-skid chains. Moreover, these vehicles should have a seating capacity not exceeding 10 seats, ensuring safer travel along these routes.
To prevent traffic congestion and ensure a smooth flow of vehicles, only registered vendors will be authorized to install anti-skid chains at designated locations.
Additionally, strict measures will be implemented to deter motorists from parking their vehicles in undesignated areas along the roadside.
Furthermore, the advisory underscores the importance of valid vehicle documents, with stringent enforcement measures in place to restrict the movement of vehicles lacking proper documentation along hilly roads, thus mitigating potential safety hazards.
Signed by Sr. Superintendent of Police Traffic Rural Kashmir, Ravinder Pal Singh, the advisory serves as a proactive measure to safeguard motorists and enhance overall road safety amid fluctuating weather conditions in the region.
